PTA News
The school fundraising continues to go from strength to strength with every year and it means that we can subsidise more school trips and events to make sure that ALL of our children can take part and enjoy every little bit that school life has to offer.
The Somerset West Lottery is still raising just shy of £600 for our school every year. You can join as a supporter at any time with a chance to win the £25,000 jackpot – www.somersetwestlottery.co.uk and search for St. Peter’s. Don’t forget that we also have a Bags of Help recycling bin permanently at school – perfect for those clear outs of unwanted clothes and textiles. We also continue to be part of the Co-op Local Causes scheme, receiving almost £900 already this year towards our outdoor classroom with a final payment due in November. We are keeping our fingers crossed that it will be a really fantastic amount! Thank you to everyone who has chosen to support St. Peter’s so far; if you haven’t already, sign up at www.coop.co.uk/membership. You can also earn rewards for yourself. We are hoping that the Outdoor Classroom will be completed in the second half of the summer term and we will have raised enough to buy some great equipment, too!
As always, Christmas was a fundraising success for us all. The Fair raised well over £700 and through buying Christmas Cards, we added another £100 to that total. This meant that we were able to cover the cost of the stage and lighting for our top-notch Christmas production ‘Bah-Humbug!, where every child in the school played a part. On top of that we have raised a further £500 together, through cake sales and discos!
Our events have been so successful this year that we were able to donate £1000 towards Science Week allowing every child in the school to go on a trip and take part in some truly wonderful experiments in school.
As the end of this academic year approaches, we will look forward to our annual sponsored walk and summer fair. We would like to say, as always, a huge thank you to all the parents and staff at St. Peter’s who support us by coming to our events – long may it last! If you think that you could spare some of your time to join us as a helper, please do, we really welcome new people.
