PTA Report 2016/2017
Our last year at St. Peter’s First School was probably our best ever in terms of fundraising. We raised £1200 at our annual Christmas Fair, with Santa’s Grotto being a particular success; £1047 through our Great Sponsored Walk to Orchard Wyndam and we dodged the rain at our Summer Fair to raise £735! As well as these main events we also collected well over £600 by hosting discos and tea parties, cake sales, movie nights and through Bags of Help.
Funds raised by your PTA are intended to provide extras not already provided by the school's main budget – often fun things that make children’s learning more interesting and exciting, or to create memorable events. Last year, with your incredible help, we paid £2300 towards swimming lessons and transport for Years 1-4; and, because they didn’t swim, we gave £500 to our Reception Class to spend on outdoor play equipment. We also contributed £200 to outdoor play equipment in the main school playground. St. Peter’s PTA has also donated £500 towards two outdoor ‘classrooms’ – a project to be sited at Danesfield School but to which our children will have access to during the school day. On top of that, we have contributed to craft afternoons, sports equipment, Lego and some bits and bobs for the classrooms.
We hope to make this year even better! We were one of the first groups to join the Somerset West Lottery at the end of last term, which supports our local area AND could make you a winner! If you haven’t already, click on this link www.somersetwestlottery.co.uk to buy tickets and don’t forget to choose St. Peter’s First School as your special cause. We also have a Bags of Help bin permanently at school, next to the staff carpark, for unwanted clothes, textiles and much more. We will let you know of any up-coming events either by letter or in the St. Peter’s Post.
Finally, we would like to say a huge thank you to all of you who have supported us by coming to our events and through your kind donations over the last year. We hope that you will continue to support us and your school in the year ahead. Also, if you think that you could spare some of your time to join us as a helper, please do, we really welcome new people.
