As part of our most recent World Food Day, Fir Class looked at how we can stay healthy throughout our lives and how to ensure we do not eat too much of a particular food group that may harm us in the long run! It is important that children know how best to keep safe in terms of healthy eating.
Furthermore, World Food Day was another opportunity for Fir Class to experiment with particular foods that they may not have tried before. Fir Class spent the afternoon tasting Indian food cuisine, sourced locally from within the community. It was also important that we gave children a background knowledge surrounding the country of India, where the food would have been originally from. We discussed how children are far less fortunate in India and how lucky we were and how our rights are important for every child in this world. This linked carefully and appropriately to the idea of how Fair Trade works.
